5/33 Pear Tree House

GV II

House. C18 and early C19. External materials early C19 chequered red and
grey brick. Left end elevation rendered. Plain tile roof. C18 house, or
wing of house, at right angles to road; 2 bays and narrow central stack bay
with lean-to to rear. Early C19 addition to right; broad entrance hall and
single room parallel to road and with slightly higher floor levels. 2 storeys
and garret with cogged brick eaves cornice. Half-hipped roof. Rear stacks
to left and right. Regular 3-window front of sashes with plain splayed rendered
voussoirs. Central door of 4 fielded panels and 2 top lights in panelled
recess. Architrave of ribbed pilasters and frieze with paterae. Shallow
flat moulded hood. Interior: moulded cornice and sunk beaded panelling to
left front room. H-L hinges and chamfer-stopped cross-beams to C18 section.
Attic stairs possibly in original position against left stack. Main
staircase early C19.
