East of Saltwood
Castle

GV I

South-west bastion and part of south curtain wall of outer bailey. Late C14.
Lower courses possibly earlier. Roughly coursed ragstone, with very large
blocks to lower courses. Circular bastion, formerly linked by a north-west
wall to curtain wall of inner bailey. Wall running north-east from bastion
(south wall of bailey) was formerly continuous with rest of outer bailey
curtain wall. Cross loop-lights to bastion. See also Saltwood Castle.
