White House
(formerly listed
as Marsh Mills)
TR 0062 5/155 29.7.50.

This is another mill-house to the North-west of the latter. C18 house altered in the
early C19. 2 storeys and attic. 3 windows. 2 hipped dormers. Front
stuccoed, sides painted brick. Coved eaves cornice. Hipped tiled
roof. Glazing bars intact. Ground floor windows have dripstones
over them which have been added. Doorway with pilasters, projecting
cornice and 6-Panel door, the top 2 panels cut away and glazed.
Originally tile house of a foreman at the Oare Gunpowder Works.
Beside the house to the South was a watermill; outline of wheel
still visible. Former millmen's watch-hut, now used as a garage.

White House, Grove Bungalow and Nos 1 and 2 (Grove Cottages) form a group.
