5/66 The Village School

II

School. 1846. Knapped flint with red brick dressings and plain
tiled roof. Central block with 2 projecting wings. Two storeys
on plinth, with brick quoins, string course, and gables left
and right with pierced boarge-boards and pendants. Two gabled
dormers to centre and stacks to left and at end left. Regular
fenestration of 4 transomed leaded lights on each floor with
red brick surrounds, and niches in each gable. Central plank
and stud door in brick arched surround with 2 large inscribed
plaques over.
