House. 1813 by Sir John Soane for Reverend John Monins and extended early
C19. Buff brick and slate roof with large central stack. Slightly
projecting, and rendered, centre, originally with a large porch, now
lost. Regular fenestration of 3 glazing bar sashes on first floor,
2 on ground floor with central panelled door with rectangular fanlight
and sidelights in pilaster surround. Two recessed wings to left, the
first hipped, the second gabled, with 1 glazing bar sash on each floor,
and coat of arms relief to centre left. Five bay right return with
outline of conservatory, now lost. Interior: panelling and library
fittings reported (see D. Stroud, Sir John Soane, 1985; see also BOE
Kent II 1983, 434).
