Description

HADLOW MAIDSTONE ROAD
TQ 63 49
7/90 No 5, The Terrace
-
II

House. Early C19, modernised circa 1980. Flemish bond red brick; brick
stacks with plastered chimneyshafts; C20 concrete tile roof.

Plan: House is set back a little from the road to the north west. Double
depth plan with front and rear room either side of central entrance hall and
main staircase. Left rooms heated by an end stack. It is not clear how or if
the right rooms were heated. The ground floor front right room was originally
a shop. 2 storeys.

Exterior: Nearly symmetrical 3-window front but the right bay is wider than
the others because it once was the shop. Ground floor right window is a C20
tripartite sash containing a central 20-pane sash. It is set in the blocking
of the old shop window. Other windows are C19 16-pane sashes under flat brick
arches. Round-headed doorway slightly left of centre contains a 4-panel door
under a low fanlight. Deep eaves with plain boarded soffit and low pitch roof
is hipped both end.

Interior, Not inspected.
