II

Barn. Probably late C18/early C19 in origin with a slightly later addition.
Framed construction on a brick plinth, clad in weatherboarding; corrugated
asbestos roof.

Plan: Built on anorth south axis. 6 bays of unequal size. The 3 southern
bays are the earlier, with a central threshing floor, porch on the west side,
flanked by outshuts; opposed doorway on the east side. 3 bays to the south
with opposed doorways in the centre. The remains of weatherboarding and
adjacent tie-beams indicate the junction of the 2 buildings.

Exterior: Single storey. Roof half-hipped at ends. At the south end the
brick plinth is of handmade brick laid in English bond.

Exterior: The north end of the barn has jowled wall posts, straight
windbraces and curved up-braces between wall posts and tie-beam; clasped
purlin roof construction with queen struts; partial ridgeboard. The southern
end has no windbraces but a similar roof construction with the queen struts
halved on to the ties.
