A large C18 block. 3 storeys. Ground floor stuccoed and grooved in imitation
of masonry, above tile hung with a moulded reeded frieze between, the
1st floor overhanging and the frieze edging the over-hang. Long and short
painted wooden quoins. Hipped tiled roof and bracket eaves cornice.
5 sashes with most glazing bars intact. No 53 has a modern shop front.
No 55 has 2 round-headed doorcases in frames with semi-circular fanlights
and 6 panelled moulded doors. Large round-headed double doorway between
the houses leading to a passageway through them.

All the listed buildings on the South side from Nos 17 to 57 form a group.
