Cl5 timber-framed building restored with an elaborate timbered front and plaster
infilling. Part of the ground floor is close-studded. The 1st floor oversails
on an embattled bressumer with a plaster cove beneath it and carved brackets.
The whole of the 1st floor is decorated with ornamental timbering in diamond
and semi circles. Two storeys and attics. Hipped tiled roof with 2 hipped
dormers. Wooden eaves cornice. Three casement windows. Massive red brick
chinneybreast on the north-east wall. The south-west wall has been refaced
with red brick on the ground floor and tile hung above. The interior has
oak panelling and the front room is dated 1578. The building is said to have
been used by one of the religious houses as a hostelry for pilgrims on their
way to Canterbury.
