Granary Oasthousesand
stable block at Halden Place
situated to the east
of the house
TQ 83 SE 8/378A

2.
Early C19 granary of 2 storeys red brick having 5 windows with 4 loft doors.
At the south end are 3 cylindrical red brick oasthouses having conical roofs
with wooden cowls and modillion eaves cornices. At the junction of the Granary
and the south-west oasthouse is a stone inscribed 'L S J 1809'. This probably
represents the date when the oasthouses were added. The stables are probably
C17 and have a stone cartouche (now much defaced) of the arms of the Guldeford
family who owned the Manor of Halden from the early C15 to the early C16.
