Farmhouse

House. C16 or earlier, extensively rebuilt C17. Timber framed and part
exposed with masonry infill, refronted with red brick, with plain tiled
roof. Two storeys and garret on plinth with plat band and roof half-
hipped to left and hipped to right with large, tall moulded stack cluster
with cornice-caps and tiled weathering. Three 3 light wooden casements
on each floor with 2 light casement to centre left on 1st floor, with
segemntal heads on ground floor. Door of 6 panels to centre the top 2
glazed. Exposed frame to left return with garret casement. Catslide
outshot to rear. Interior: massive stack, with inglenooks and bread
oven, and brick fireplaces on upper floors, inserted in full frame
(the front wall totally rebuilt with red brick). Chamfered ceiling
beams, much re-used timber. Clasped purlin roof, with re-used and
blackened rafters.
