House and attached former stable block. Early Cl9 house and late C18
stable block. Timber framed stable range tile hung on painted brick
ground floor with plain tiled roof. House of painted brick with slate
roof. Two storeys on plinth with plat band and wide eaves to hipped
roof with stacks to left and to rear right. Regular fenestration of 3
glazing bar sashes with louvred shutters on 1st floor and 2 on ground
floor with central double half-glazed doors with moulded flat hood on
brackets. Door of 6 raised and fielded panels and flat hood to left
return. Right return with 3 glazing bar sashes on 1st floor and 2
restored deeply bowed windows with margin lights and curved steps, and
central French window. Projecting from rear left is the hipped former
stable range, with 3 glazing bar sashes on 1st floor and 2 Gothick
arched sashes on ground floor, with boarded door to left and central
passageway opening. Interior: fluted marble fireplace on ground floor,
wooden moulded fireplaces in upper rooms, with fine cast iron grates.
Geometric stair with stick balusters on carved tread-ends, with ramped
and wreathed handrail. Sliding internal shutters to all major
window/bow openings. Undergoing extensive repair and restoration at
time of survey.
