SD 57 SW BORWICK THE GREEN

4/56 Pear Tree Cottage

G.V. II

House. Late C17th with late C18th windows. Rendered rubble with slate
roof. 2-unit central-entry plan with end stacks. 2 storeys. Door and
windows have plain stone surrounds. All windows of 2 lights with square
mullions, 2 on each floor. Left-hand window has fixed lights with glazing
bars. Right-hand window has lowered sill. On 1st floor left-hand window
has glazing bars, one half having a sash and the other a casement. To the
left on the ground floor is a blocked one-light chamfered fire window of
C17th type. Stack projects on right-hand gable. Former stables to the
left under continuous roof converted into an extension to the house in 1948.
