House. late C18th with C17th remains. Rendered rubble with sandstone
dressings and slate roof. L-plan with late C18th facade facing garden to
south and C17th wing facing east. 2 1/2 storeys. Main facade of 5 bays, with
sashed windows with glazing bars and plain stone surrounds on all floors,
the attic windows being shorter. Central doorway partly obscured by wooden
porch. Door has plain stone jambs which are flanked by tall thin lights
with pointed heads, and a fanlight of intersecting tracery under a 2-centred
arch. All enclosed by an open pediment on console brackets. Moulded cornice
and plain parapet. Chimneys on gables and to each side of central bay, the
right-hand gable stack projecting. Rear wing, facing east, has doorway with
moulded, shouldered, architrave of C18th type with pulvinated frieze and
cornice over. To the left is a stepped drip mould over a modern window.
To the right is a rebated and chamfered mullioned and transomed window with
drip mould. 1st floor windows are sashed with glazing bars, in flat
moulded architraves of C18th type: one window to the left, with a double
sash in the centre and 2 single windows to the right. Modern wooden
casements to the attic. Cyma cornice, the right-hand gable having chamfered
quoins and a chimney. Outshut at rear, in the angle between the 2 wings,
has a stepped mullioned and transomed rebated and chamfered 6-light window
on the 1st floor.
