5/9 Icehouse in grounds of Gresgarth

Icehouse, probably early C19th. Sandstone rubble. Built into hillside. Door
to entrance passage has plain reveals and stone lintel. Above it is a small
gable. On each side are convex retaining walls, the right-hand one now
leaning forwards partly across entrance. Entrance passage has iron pins for
external door hinges and rebate for inner door. Chamber is of rectangular
plan, with level floor and barrel vault.
