House, 1680, altered. Sandstone rubble with slate roof. 3-unit lobby-entry
plan. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Single-storey gabled porch between lst and 2nd
bays. Windows are modern or sashed and have plain reveals, except for a
3-light rebated and chamfered mullioned window to the right of the porch.
Above this is the remaining section of a continuous drip course. To the right
of the 2nd bay on the lst floor is a small one-light chamfered window. The
outer porch doorway has plain reveals, the inner door having a chamfered
surround with shaped lintel inscribed 'RCA 1680'. Chimneys, with brick caps,
to left of porch and on right-hand gable. Above 1st floor window sill level
the wall contains more red sandstone, suggesting that the eaves level may have
been raised. Inside, the middle room has 2 chamfered and stopped axial main
joists, a boxed firehood bressumer, and a spere with chamfered and stopped
heck post. In the rear wall is a recess said to be a blocked fire window. To
the right of the modern fireplace there is said to be a spice cupboard with
door dated '1681', now inaccessible behind furniture.
