2/152 Wash house west of rear wing of
Hipping Hall

GV II

Outbuilding, probably used as wash house and privy and probably early
C19th. Sandstone with slate monopitch roof. Single storey. Front (east)
wall has 2 doorways, the left-hand one with plain stone surround, the
right-hand one with rubble jambs and a pointed arch. Between them is a
small window with plain stone surround. The right-hand, smaller,
compartment has a low stone bench against the right-hand wall. Above it
are 3 small blocked square openings with stone surrounds. The larger
compartment is open at the rear. 3 stone steps descend to a flagged floor
on 2 levels. Further stone steps lead to the stream which flows along the
rear wall of the building.
