2/225 Barn on roadside, approx. 150
metres west of Low Hall
Barn, probably late C18th re-using some C17th dressings. Sandstone rubble
with slate roof. West wall has wide entrance withjqhamfered jambs and
timber lintel, under a canopy with cheeks. At the far left is a pitching
door with plain reveals. The right-hand gable wall has 3 shippon doors
with plain reveals, the central and left-hand ones blocked. Under the apex
are pigeon holes, with an owl hole above. Adjoining to the right, beyond a
straight joint,is a rear wing which appears to be a later addition. It
has 2 doorways blocked to form windows, the ]eft-hand one with plain
reveals, the right-hand one with chamfered surround. Between them is a
3-light rebated and chamfered mullioned window whose lower half is
blocked. On the 1st floor are blocked breathers. To the right is a former
3-light mullioned window, with one light blocked and one mullion removed.
Inside, the main barn roof is of hardwood with tie beams and raking queen
