SD 55 SE OVER WYRESDALE

12/6 Chapel House Farmhouse and farm
2-5-1968 building adjoining to west

House, mid C18th. Sandstone rubble with slate roof. Double-depth plan. 2
storeys, 2 bays. 1st floor has flush chamfered mullioned windows with
glazing bars. The left-hand ground-floor window has been altered and has
a fixed light and a sashed light separated by a mullion. The right-hand
window, formerly of 2 lights, has had its mullion removed. Porch, between
bays, has a doorway with plain reveals and a coping with kneelers. Gable
chimneys. At the left is a,lower addition. Its front wall is blank. The
rear wall has a wide doorway with stone lintel and a window with plain
stone surround and glazing bars. The rear wall of the house has a stair
window with glazing bars and with a transom. Inside, the house has exposed
chamfered ceiling beams, and an attic with 2 trusses with tie beams
supporting the floor and with collars.
