House, '1685 R S' on tablet over door. Slobbered sandstone rubble with
slate roof. Possible end-lobby-entry plan, the right-hand (western) unit
having later openings. 2 storeys. The ground floor has a continuous drip
course which terminates to the right of the door. To the left of the door
are 2 2-light hollow-chamfered mullioned windows, the right-hand one
previously being of 3 lights. On the 1st floor the left-hand window is
modern with plain reveals. To its right is a blocked stair window at an
intermediate level with C17th surround. Further right is the surround to
a former 2-light mullioned window. The door has a chamfered surround with
4-centred head. The right-hand unit, beyond the stack, has a modern
window with plain reveals on the ground floor and a C19th plain stone
surround on the 1st floor. Inside. The door opens against a stone spere
which now supports a modern beam. The present fireplace is shouldered,
of Cl8th type, with a brick lined bread oven adjoining, having a stone
surround to the opening.
