SD 54 SE CHIPPING
3/98 Higher Core Farmhouse
House, 1731, altered. Watershot sandstone with stone slate roof. 2 storeys,
3 bays. Windows now have plain stone surrounds and are sashed except for
those in bay 2 which are sashed with glazing bars. Between bays 1 and 2 is a
door with architrave and a moulded stone plaque above inscribed 'Edmund
Margaret Parkinson 1731'. Window mullions are re-used as gutter corbels.
The chimneys are on the gables and between bays 2 and 3, the right-hand
chimney having a moulded coping and weathered tabling. The right-hand
gable has a blocked rebated and chamfered window surround on the 1st floor.
At the rear are later extensions.
