SD 64 NE BOWLAND FOREST LOW

14/23 Browsholme Spire, adjoining south-
- west end of Spire Farmhouse

Folly, probably early C19th. A battered wall of sandstone rubble, about 35 feet
high, its south-west side sloping, the north-east side being perpendicular. It
is surmounted by battlements and has 2 blocked openings with segmental heads, a
narrow one above a wider one. Sited on a hilltop and visible from the park of
Browsholme Hall. Spire farmhouse is oil little architectural interest.
