SD 6950 NEWTON NEWTON VILLAGE
18/49 East View
House, late C18th. Pebbledashed rubble with sandstone dressings and slate
roof. A symmetrical composition with central entry and gable stacks.
3 storeys, 5 bays, with chamfered quoins and plain stone window surrounds.
The ground and 1st floor windows are sashed except for the central window
on the 1st floor which is fixed with glazing bars, as is the right-hand
attic window. There is no central window to the top storey. The door has
an architrave, with pulvinated frieze and cornice. The chimneys have caps
with copings and weathered offsets. The right-hand (north) gable has, at
its left-hand side, a 2-light chamfered mullioned window. To its right,
on both ground and 1st floors, is a window with plain stone surround. To
the right is a door with plain stone surround.
