4/97 Newfield Edge Hall
-
- II

House, mid C18th. Sandstone rubble with stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays.
Windows have chamfered stone surrounds and chamfered flush mullions. All
are of 4 lights except for the ground-floor window of the right-handbay,
which is of 6 lights and is possibly a C20th replacement. Between bays one
and 2 is a single-storey porch. Shaped stone gutter brackets. Chimneys on
gables, between bays 2 and 3, and in line with bay 3, At the rear (north)
are 4 bays with similar windows, all of 2 lights except for the right-hand
ground-floor one which is of 4 lights. Between bays 3 and 4 is a stair
window with a mullion and a transom and with a plain stone surround with
semi-circular head. Straight joint between bays 2 and 3, suggesting that
the left-hand (east) bay is later.
