Barn, probably late C18. Brick with some stone dressings, slate roof. Five
bays, opposed wagon entrances to the middle bay segmental-headed and slightly
set back between a short check on the left and 4th bay which breaks dorward at
this point, these parts having sandstone jambs at the lower level; to left are
2 doors and 2 windows at ground floor and 2 square openings above, and in the
2nd bay 3 vertically aligned diamond-pattern breathers; to right are 2 windows
and above these 2 similar breathers. Right gable wall has 3 doorways, and at
1st floor a circular pitching hole with stone surround. All ground floor
openings have large stone lintels. Rear (north) side has diamond pattern
breathers on 2 levels. Interior: stable and shippon to left, shippon to
right, both lofted; brick partition wall with large round-arched opening
between centre and 4th bay; kingpost roof trusses; wooden stalls in shippon at
right end. Listed as good example of Lancashire barn,
