8/87 Nos. 1.2,3 and 4 The Almshouses
Almshouses. Formerly dated 1809 in pediment; altered. White painted
brick on stuccoed stone base, low-pitched hipped slate roof. Rectangular
plan, 4 units. Single storey, symmetrical; roof carried down to form open
verandah to front and sides, supported by slender shafted iron posts, a
pedimented gable in the centre (pediment formerly dated 1809 now boarded);
2 doors under this feature and one at each end, all with pointed arched
panels and blank trefoil heads; 2 windows each side of the centre, all
round-headed with intersecting tracery in the heads but with altered
casements below. Two chimney stacks on the ridge. Rear roughcast and of
less interest. Interior not inspected. History: Pediment formerly
