Bellhouse, now store. Probably C16. Coursed squared sandstone with
quoins, stone slate roof. Small square building of one storery raised on a
basement, with a plain basement door on the south side, a raised door on
the north side approached by steps, a louvred 2-light window with chamfered
mullion on each side except north (mullion missing from south side), and a
round-headed louvred window on the north side. Said to have been built to
receive a large bell purchased from the church at Wigan in 1542. Reference
