Farmhouse, now house. C17, altered in 1878. Handmade brick with stone
quoins, stone slate roof. Three-bay baffle-entry plan with projecting porch
and rear outshut. Two storeys; 2-storey gabled porch in line with ridge
chimney at junction of 1st and 2nd bays has stone surround to slightly-arched
outer doorway and a label over the lintel, narrow C19 sashes window above and
in the gable the letters W G in brick; to right a glazed sun parlour added to
the front, a doorway to it inserted in the wall of the porch; otherwise, 3
windows on each floor, all C19 alterations with polychrome brick segmental
heads and coupled sashes. Left gable wall has porch in Gothic style with
datestone lettered JAL; right gable wall has a chimney behind the ridge and a
1878
C19 lean-to; rear has out shut to 2nd and 3rd bays mostly surrounded by
additions. Interior: housepart in centre has 2 lateral ovolo-moulded beams,
2 service rooms in 3rd bay have similar beams, kitchen in 1st bay has 2
chamfered beams; outshut contains open well staircase with moulded string,
panelled square newels, barley-sugar balusters and moulded handrail; at 1st
floor ovolo moulded beams visible only in 1st bay; collar truss roof.
