5/2 Entrance to Sough Railway Tunnel
- II

Entrance to Sough Tunnel on Blackburn, Darwen and Bolton Railway, 1847-8;
Resident Engineer, Terence Flanagan. Rock-faced gritstone. Medieval
style. Horseshoe-shaped arch with rusticated voussoirs, battlemented parapet
whiah has a machicolated turret corbelled on each side of the tunnel mouth.
