5/18 Vale Rock Mill
- II

Cotton spinning mill, early C19, now in multiple occupation. Random
rubble with quoins, slate roof with skylights. Rectangular plan 9
windows long (later extension at east end, 2 windows long). Four
diminishing storeys; windows segmental-headed except those at top floor
which are flat-headed; latrine turret at right end, various later offices,
etc, enclosing its base. Interior: machine rooms of 8 bays with 2 rows of
cast iron columns supporting timber beams, joists, and floors; west bay was
drive-belt shaft.
