Bridge carrying old road across Alum House Brook, date unknown but
probably C19 replacement of an older bridge. Roughly-dressed sandstone
blocks, with rubble abutments. High segmental-headed arch in deep
ravine, with buttressed side walls between abutments which appear
earlier. Rounded coping to middle of parapets. Old road possibly
associated with former alum mine c.200 metres south, which was visited
by James I in 1617. (West side of this structure is in Samlesbury CP,
South Ribble District).
