Early C20. Ashlar. Slate mansard roof. Octagonal dome at corner with open
octagonal lantern, itself with ogee dome and finial, all in copper. 2 storeys
and attics. Moulded eaves cornice and balustrade with vase-shaped balusters.
Bays either side of corner break forward slightly and are topped by shaped
Baroque gables to windows in the dome. Ground floor otherwise has an order
of blocked half-columns taking an entablature. 6 ranges of sashes to Church
Street, and 2 to Lord Street: windows have moulded and blocked frames with
triple keystones. 1 other ashlar dormer with paired sashes and swan's neck
pediment. Round-arched door with blocked moulded architrave, framed by fluted
Tuscan half-columns taking segmental pediment. Extension to east along Church
Street. 3 attic dormers with moulded surrounds, keystones and segmental pediments.
1st floor has 1 mullion-and-transom cross window and 3 windows in a group, all
with moulded surrounds, pulvinated frieze and linking moulded cornice. Ground
floor has round-arched door with convex moulded rusticated jambs and voussoirs,
and triple keystone framed by 2 Tuscan pilasters with segmental pediment, and
2 side-lights each with small pilasters and full entablature over. Group of 3
windows, side 2 canted, all with moulded frames and keystones, central 1 with
pulvinated frieze and pediment over. Half columns set facing inwards in space
created by the canted side windows. Moulded cornice above whole ground floor.
Shaped gable at east end.
