House, late C17. Rendered rubble with corrugated iron roof over thatch.
Lobby-entry plan. One storey with attic, 3 bays. 1st and 2nd bays have
2-light and 3-light windows with timber mullions and glazing bars. The
riqht-hand bay has a 2-light rebated and chamfered stone window with
mullion and hood, 1st and 2nd bays have attic windows, the left-hand one
of 2 lights with timber mullion, the right-hand one a dormer of 3 lights,
rebated and chamfered with stone mullions. Door, between 2nd and 3rd
bays,has rendered reveals. Chimney on left-hand gable and large stack in
line with door. Interior said to have firehood bressumer and upper crucks.
The building will be described and illustrated by Watson, R.C. and
McClintock, M.E. in their forthcoming book on houses in the Claughton
area.
