GARSTANG BRIDGE STREET
SD 44 NE
House, probably mid C18. Rendered rubble with brick chimney and with
thatched roof removed following fire in November 1984. 2 storeys, 2 bays.
Windows have plain rendered reveals and dire spaced irregularly. Those to
the left-hand bay have modern frames. Those to the right have glazing
bars, the 1st floor one with horizontal sash. Hardwood roof timbers now
visible, with purlins supported on 2 trusses with tie beams and collars.
Left-hand truss adjoins left-hand gable wall and has wattle-and-daub
infill. This, together with purlins extending beyond the truss, suggests
that the building may once have extended further to the left. Right, hand
truss adjoins central dividing wall which contains a brick chimney.
