road, at north side of
entrance to County Fire
Brigade HQ


Milestone, mid- to later C18. Convex triangular stone c.1 metre high, with
rounded top and a recessed panel on each of the 2 sides to the road, lettered
in cursive script:-

"To "To
Garstang Preston
73/4 and 3
Miles" Miles"

with "BROUGHTON" on the base beneath the panels. Erected by Preston and
Garstang Turnpike Trust, established 1751; one of ten such milestones in
unbroken sequence.
