Obelisk, dated 1841 by inscription. Dressed sandstone. Square pedestal
with moulded base and cap, fielded panel in each side; obelisk with moulded
base, a ball at each corner on which the needle appears to stand. The
panel on the east side of the pedestal is lettered:

THIS OBELISK/ WAS ERECTED/ A.D. 1841/ WHEN THE HOSPITAL/ OF/
GOOSNARGH/ WAS ENLARGED/ AS A RECORD TO THE/ MEMORY OF/
WILLIAM BUSHELL M.D./ ITS BENEVOLENT FOUNDER.
