8/84 Place House Farmhouse

Farmhouse, probably late C17, altered. Handmade brick with rendered
plinth and quoins, slate roof. Three-bay baffle-entry plan, with short
full-height outshut to rear of 1st bay. Two storeys; 2-course band;
doorway in line with ridge chimney at junction of 2nd and 3rd bays, 3
windows on each floor, all C19 4-pane sashes except ground floor right
which is enlarged. Rear has mostly similar C19 windows, including 9-pane
stairlight in outshut; and single-storey lean-to extension to 3rd bay.
Interior: housepart in middle bay has inglenook fireplace with bressummer,
2 service doorways at the other end, and doglegged staircase in outshut
(detailed character of original features concealed by modern surface
decoration).
