Built as town's first grammar school. A triangular pediment with oval panel is
inscribed THIS / Grammar School / was erected by voluntary subscription / 1812.
Stone with ashlar quoins and dressings. Slate roof. Two storeys. Symmetrical
5-bay composition, ground floor windows with plain surrounds, first floor windows
have semi-circular heads with keystone and imposts. Deep stringcourse between
floors and quoins in strong relief.
