11/266 Swinden Bridge No 142

- II

Roving bridge, 1795. Robert Whitworth, engineer. Hammer dressed stone. Single
elliptical arch with rusticated voussoirs. Plain parapet, raised slightly at
a later date. Curved abutments end in piers, with handrail brought down to
ground beyond pier at south-east corner where towing path comes down to pass
under the arch.
