OLD LAUND BOOTH
Old Laund Hall (Lower Old Hall)

1.4.53

II
House. Perhaps C16 and C17. Partly ruined. 3 storeys. Rubble. Centre chimney. Front contains a ruined porch with Tudor arched door leading to another Tudor doorway in ruined wing. To right is plain doorway and 6-light window with glazing bars. First floor has 7-light window, with 4-light windows on 2nd floor. All windows have stone mullions, hollow chamfered and plain chamfered, some with ovolo and one opening with bold double ovolo moulding. Right hand return has a large moulded corbel above centre window on top floor, with blocked window in gable above. Ruined wing has very thick walls and two Tudor fireplaces. Interior has ingle-nook fireplace and is said to have stone stairs and vaulted cellars or passages underneath. Difficult interpretation with much evidence of reused material. (51/p154/RCHM).
