ASHWELL

SK 81 SE OAKHAM ROAD (East side)

GV II

House of 1812. Red brick with stone sill band and parapet to front and
hipped slate roof with 4 symmetrical ridge and rear stacks. 3 storeys
of 3 sash windows: 4/4 and 3/3 centre on 2nd floor, otherwise 8/8 and
6/6 centre. Gauged brick lintels and stone sills. Central flat-topped
porch up 2 stone steps. A column with fluted capital on front corners
and glazed sides with 2 part-glazed doors to front. Further sashes on
left side with round arched sash to staircase. On right side a front
of 4 sashes with ground floor bowed extension left. Lead roof and tripartite
sash. 2 2-storey extensions to rear, one with C20 tile roof, the other
with rear stack. Contemporary staircase with mahogany rail. 6-panelled
doors. Formerly the Rectory.
