4/36 Entrance piers and gates
at Clipsham Hall


Entrance piers and gates of C18 and C19. Pair of stone piers for former
carriage way and further lower pier for pedestrian gate. Piers on square
plan, fluted or panelled to front and rear, with plinth and carved cornice.
On top are 3, possibly mid C19, finely carved crests in full relief.
On pedestrian pier is inscribed Davenport Handley. Wooden gates, probably
C19. Group value with Church of St. Mary.
