gate piers at The Wharf

Stable block, formerly canal warehouse, of early C19 and lodge and gate
piers of mid C19. Stable block of coursed squared rubble stone with
Welsh slate roof hipped to right. 2 storeys and basement of 5 small
windows with brick cambered lintels. Basement windows blocked, upper
floor boarded. To rear various stable and garage doors and windows and
1st floor door with winch. To right small square 1 storey lodge of ashlar
with slate pyramid roof. 8/8 sash window to front and 3-light stone
Tudor mullion window and similar style door to left. Between stable
block and lodge small section of wall and pair of stone gate piers. Site
of wharf on former Oakham-Leicester canal.
