GV II

House. In small part C18, mainly of 1834. Fine coursed rubble stone with ashlar
quoins, plinth, Is floor band and dressings. Hipped Welsh slate roof with
4 moulded stone stacks. 2 storeys of 3 8/8 sash windows over 8/12. Stone sills
and lintels. Corners and centre project slightly. In latter the sash has a
moulded stone frame and is over stone doorcase. A pair of Tuscan pilasters
either side with entablature over. 3 stone steps lead up to 4-panelled door
with overlight whose glazing bars produce square and rectangular panes. On
right side a similar 2 window front, the right lower sash with a tall narrow
round-arched fixed-light window either side. On left side further sashes and
doors and a 2½ storey wing to rear probably with C18 core. Inside are a stone
flagged hall, contemporary staircase, four-panelled doors and simple marble
fireplaces. White's Leicestershire and Rutland, 1877, for date of Rectory
rebuilding.
