Gate Lodge to former park of Stoughton Grange (demolished.) Late C18.
Stucco painted white with black painted details with pyramidal slate roof with
central stack with moulded capping. Projecting wing with hipped roof and
chimney stack to west. Entrance front has asymmetrically placed doorway with
blind window and a single lancet with angle shafts, capitals and arch moulding
to the right. Large pointed arch in niches of identical design at either end
of the front. The south elevation faces the road: 3 bays with the wider
central bay slightly recessed within which is triple Lancet window. Single
Light to each side and central double light, with ornate glazing bars.
Double faucet window in west wing, altered. The design of this lodge is a
reduced and simplified version of Stoughton Grange elevations in the late C18.
