House, formerly almshouses. 1867, a rebuilding by Sir George Beaumont of
an earlier foundation. Brick. 2 storeys, half-butterfly plan with dutch
gables incorporating stacks at each end and to centre piece between the wings.
Dentilled brick string course and eaves cornice, black diaper work to 1st floor.
Renewed casement windows in wings, some in original brick arched openings with
red and black work. Renewed doorway in full height recessed archway with key-
stone in central gable. Gable contains Beaumont arms and engraved stone recording
the foundation of the hospital, re-sited from earlier building. Arch is filled
with decorative woodwork with scrolls, monograms and the date.
