Description

SK 31 SE HEATHER MILL LANE
5/22
14.10.82 Mill Farmhouse, adjoining
Mill and stable block.

II

Farmhouse and mill building. House mid C18, adjoining house at right-
angles, probably later. House rough cast over brick. 2 storeys. 2 unit
plan with opposed entries away from central stack. 6-panel door with small
projecting wood pediment on brackets. Triple light casements with segmental
heads to ground floor, horizontal sliding sashes above. Inside, ingle-nook
type fireplace with moulded bressummer. Internal doors (2-panel with brass
fittings) look original. Small 2 storey wing behind, built into bank, and
to left a lower adjoining stable block with central doorway and loft opening
above.
Mill is of Flemish bond brickwork, largely obscurred by ivy. 2 openings with
brick arched heads visible in gable, others on South elevation.
Remains on mill pond and sluice visible behind house - layout suggests an
overshot mill.
