(North side)
6/9 Nos 19, 21 and 23,
Desford Post Office

Cottage, house and shop. Late C18, early C19 and mid C19. No 19, red brick
with C20 concrete tile roof and single gable stack. 2-storey. Segment headed
doorway with unusual patterned door, to right a 2-light sliding sash with
glazing bars, under a slightly larger segment head. Above a 2-light window.
No 21, red brick in Flemish bond with burnt headers. Thatch roof with raised
brick coped gables with a single gable and a single ridge stack. Swithland
stone plinth. Single storey plus attics. 3-bay front with off-centre half
glazed door in reeded wooden surround flanked by single tripartite plain
casements. To first floor are 2 glazing bar through eaves eye brow dormers.
No 23, red brick also in Flemish bond with pale headers. C20 concrete tile roof
and a single gable stack. Half glazed. 4-panel door and to left a 2-light
cross casement, both with segment headed wedge lintels. Below to left a post
box. Above a single 3-light sliding sash with glazing bars, and to right a
blind window. Beyond to right a slightly lower mid C19 addition, red brick
with a slate roof and chamfered plinth. Ground floor has 2-pane shop window and
above a 3-light sliding sash with glazing bars.
