(East Side)
SK 5804 SE 3/281 Nos 53 and 55
Late C19. Red brick with painted stone dressings. Slate roof. Four
storeys and attic. Four windows. Rectangular windows in moulded stone
architrave containing casements. Second floor windows have continuous
narrow balcony on large brackets. Moulded string courses. Smaller attic
windows with small gables over with stone coping and ball-finials. Large
shop being fitted at time of survey 1973. Included for group value.

All listed buildings on East side of Market Place form a group with Nos
35, 37 and 29 (rear elevations) Gallowtree Gate, (Nos 61, 63 and 67 Market
Place and No 35 Gallowtree Gate are buildings of local interest).
