SK 5804 SW 2/350 West Bridge
Opened 1891 A wide bridge with two charnels, with stone abutments and
cast iron arches with iron girders, not visible, under bridge. The arches
are cast iron with four-centred arches with spandrels having trefoil and
quatrefoil decoration, cornice above with Tudor roses. Heavy cast iron
decorated railed parapet, and ashlar octagonal turrets at ends with ogee-
shaped domes with crockets, finials, crenellation, and carved heads.
The ashlar cutwater at centre rises to castellated refuge. Spans the
River Soar which is canalised at this section. One of a series see:-
